Biography
Dudu Tassa is one of the most significant and influential artists in the Israeli music industry.
Tassa has collaborated with many prominent artists, composed for television and cinema and has been featured as an actor and musician in Israeli films. Tassa is among Israel’s best-known singer-songwriters as well as a major figure in the country’s Rock & Roll scene. His impressive career includes countless songs which became a vital part of the Israeli DNA.
Tassa was twice awarded the ACUM prize for composer of the year and has released 13 albums throughout his career. Among the highlights are the three albums of his project Dudu Tassa & the Kuwaitis, a new adaptation of the music of his grandfather and his brother, Daud and Salah El Kuwaiti who were among the most famous musicians from the Arab world in the 20th century.
Dudu Tassa and the Kuwaitis preformed as the supporting act of RADIOHEAD during their 2017 USA tour and opened the prestigious 2017 Coachella Festival in California on both festival weekends. They also performed for the United Nations in NY, Womex 2016, Sziget Festival 2016, Ostrava Festival 2017, Copenhagen Roots & Jazz festival 2019 and others.
In 2019 Tassa won the Israeli Oscars (Ophir Awards) for the 'Best Original Music' he composed along with Nir Maimon, Ehud Banai and Yossi Marchaim for the film Red Fields.
